Riaan Nel

My career spans product development, enterprise systems, financial services, consulting, and executive leadership. I've worked across organisations of very different sizes, stages, and levels of maturity, each with its own constraints, politics, and priorities. That range of experience is what allows me to understand what matters in different environments and adapt accordingly.

I've seen what happens when technology decisions are made without context, and I've seen how much changes when the right person is in the room. That experience is what led me to launch my Fractional CTO practice.

As a solo operator, this is personal. I build direct relationships with your team, not layers of account managers between us.

I make something better every day, whether it's code, architecture, a process, or teaching someone something new. If I'm not adding value, something is wrong.

I believe in using the right tool for the right problem. There are no silver bullets and no one-size-fits-all solutions. Everything is a trade-off, and I look at the big picture to strike the right balance.

If there's a problem, you'll hear it from me first. I believe in addressing issues directly, without sugar-coating. I'll keep you informed, and I expect the same in return.

No committee decisions, no corporate filtering. When I flag something, it's my name on it. That's by design.
